After gaining independence, on the one hand Kyrgyzstan struggled to overcome economic, political and social problems, and on the other hand it began negotiations with neighboring states on delimitation and demarcation of the country's territory as part of the nation building process.

However, due to the fact that the application of international agreements on border issues takes time and also because of the lack of historical and geographic baselines, negotiations with neighboring countries regarding the territorial restrictions of Kyrgyzstan have faced serious problems. Therefore, this seminar analyzed the problems that Kyrgyzstan faced with,  regarding demarcation  of territories in the border region of neighboring countries, and the reasons underlying the problem.
