Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov confirmed in Ashgabat on November 28 that his country considers cooperation in industrial sectors, including oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical sectors, as perspective sectors of cooperation with Turkmenistan. This news was reported by SNG.Today.

Jabbarov specified that the trade turnover between the countries has increased five times in recent years. This indicates that cooperation in trade is successfully developing and can become an impact for expanding the geography of investments. As an example, the Minister mentioned the opening of SOCAR office in Ashgabat.

He noted that energy cooperation between the countries has very good perspectives for expansion and the existing ties in the oil and gas sector give an opportunity to deepen the partnership.

As a significant step in the development of bilateral relations in the energy sector, the Minister named the signing of a memorandum on joint exploration and development of deep-water fields "Dostluk" in January 2021.

The Head of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan also welcomed the positive outlook related to the supply of electricity from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan and further transit to third countries. In this regard, he invited brotherly Turkmenistan to cooperate both in bilateral and multilateral formats.
