China has become one of the largest foreign trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan.

The dynamic growth in trade between these countries is an evidence, which increased by 11.4% in 2018 and amounted to $12 billion. In total, over the years of Independence, China has invested about $20 billion in Kazakhstan. We consider today’s 6th meeting of the Business Council as an opportunity to unlock the vast potential of business and investment partnership between the two countries” said Kazakh President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev at the opening ceremony of the 6th Kazakhstan-China Business Council’s meeting.

Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan was making significant efforts to create a favorable investment environment. Kazakhstan had entered the top 30 in the World Bank’s Business ranking, taking 28th position among 190 countries in the world.

“Over the years of Independence, more than $300 billion of foreign direct investment has been attracted to the Kazakh economy.  Our country is the leader in this term in the Central Asian region,” said Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev. The President called on Chinese businessmen to use the AIFC stock exchange more actively for financial operations, noting that it is a unique institution for the region, where more than 250 companies had already been registered.
