Within the framework of the Kazakhstan-France Investment Forum held in Paris, France, Kazakhstan KazMunayGas Inc. and Air Liquide, a leading French company, signed an investment agreement.

According to Kazpravda.kz, the agreement covers the construction of a plant to produce compressed air and nitrogen, as well as the supply of a chemical gas production complex under construction in the Atyrau Region. Based on the signed agreement, the company’s direct investments in the Kazakhstan economy will cost about 200 million USD.

The forum whose organizers were Kazakhstan’s national export and investment agency Kazak Invest and the French entrepreneurs’ association MEDEF, with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in France, was attended by more than 100 business representatives from Kazakhstan and France.

In the opening speech, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Sklyar drew attention to unprecedented mutual trust, loyalty and strategic partnership achieved in the 27 years of cooperation between the two countries. He urged French businessmen to cooperate in priority areas such as digitalization, the agricultural industry and alternative energy.

Pascal Loro, Special Representative of France for Central Asian Economic Diplomacy said: “Located at the heart of the great Silk Road, Kazakhstan is a key economic partner of France in Central Asia and an important link between Europe and Asia. Today's global investment forum and two thematic forums on investment partnership areas held in the cities of Cannes and Rennes in March and September of this year are a key step in the process of deepening our bilateral relations and strengthening our strategic partnership.”

During the forum meetings, Deputy Prime Minister Sklyar the head of Kazakhstan delegation, also held a series of bilateral meetings with the management of France’s Air Liquide, VICAT Group, IDEMIA, Airbus, Bureau Veritas, Loste Group, CNCR Group and other major companies.

The investment forum continued with panel sessions on “New Economy and Digitalization Opportunities”, “New Energy and Resource Efficiency” and “Industrial Development and Government Support Measures”. The Forum featured a range of B2B (Business to business) e-commerce models with company-to-company marketing or sales practices with the participation of companies with high investment potential.

France is one of the five major trading and investment partners of Kazakhstan. Since 2008, France's total investment volume in Kazakhstan has exceeded 12.5 billion USD. The total trade volume reached 50 billion dollars. There are more than 130 companies with French capital in Kazakhstan.
