Kazakhstan President Kasım Cömert Tokayev stated that they will start exploration activities for new oil and gas wells in the Mangistau region, located on the coast of the Caspian Sea in the west of the country. The related news appeared on Trtavaz's official website on September 23.

Tokayev met with the regional administration as part of his study visit to the city of Aktau, the center of Mangistau province.

At the meeting, the socio-economic development of the province, which has rich oil and gas resources, was evaluated.

In his speech here, Tokayev noted that the oil deposits in the region are expected to be gradually depleted by 2030 and a decrease in production is expected.

Noting that investments for geological exploration will increase and new drilling works will accelerate, Tokayev said, "The National Geological Service, which will be established at the end of the year, will undertake the responsibility in this area."

Tokayev added that they will start exploration activities in the region in large deposits such as "Kalamkas Teniz" and "Caspian" with a total cost of 5 billion dollars.
