The European Union (EU) is launching the program SWITCH-Asia. The main objectives of this program is to ensure stable use, to improve production and to help Asia transition to a green economy.

Since 2019, the program has spread to Central Asian countries.

SWITCH-Asia program was opened on 5 July 2019 in Bishkek. The presentation at the opening ceremony discussed the objectives and problems of implementation of the program around Central Asia. In addition, in the next 3 years in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan countries, the implementation of the program plans to clarify the plans for implementation.

Today, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are at the first step of the stage to discuss the national strategy of the green economy. At the same time, the government of Uzbekistan is taking important steps by declaring that it supports natural energy production. In particular, it is reported that Uzbekistan is more concerned about the use of solar energy. In the same way, Tajikistan tends to implement basic ecological programs. Kyrgyzstan, like its two neighboring countries, wants to benefit from solar energy, to save energy and to switch to organic agriculture. Kyrgyzstan considers the green economy as a priority area of development and continues its work on new legal bases. In recent years (2019-2022), five countries in Central Asia have received assistance from green economy experts within the SWITCH-Asia program.
