The official visit of the parliamentary delegation led by Parliament Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov to Turkey is continuing with a number of meetings.

The press service of the Jogorku Kenesh reported that, Dzhumabekov held bilateral talks with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Shentop, where measures to strengthen friendly relations between the countries were discussed.

Dzhumabekov and the Kyrgyz Parliament members also met with Mustafa Shentop in an extended format in Istanbul. The sides discussed the possibility of developing inter-parliamentary cooperation.

During the visit, the Kyrgyz side raised such issues as the expansion of trade and economic ties and investments, the possibility of exporting agricultural products, including meat, to Turkey. The sides also discussed cultural and humanitarian interaction.

“Previously, at high-level meetings representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey set the goal to bring trade turnover between the countries up to $1 billion. In 2018, this figure amounted to USD 394.5 million, which is 10.8% more than in 2017. I believe that the Parliaments of our countries should make every effort and contribute to a faster growth of trade turnover. I also stressed this at the meeting with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan,” Dzhumabekov said.

Head of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Shentop thanked the Kyrgyz delegation for participation in the event dedicated to the memory of the victims of July 15.

“We express our deep gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for its brotherly support. As for your economic, cultural and humanitarian issues, they will be discussed in more detail at the upcoming meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkish intergovernmental commission. As the head of the Turkish Parliament, I will also pay attention to these issues. I believe that the bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey are developing dynamically and are at a high level. We are particularly pleased with the strengthening of mutually beneficial inter-parliamentary cooperation, including as part of the interaction of parliamentary friendship groups,” Mustafa Shentop said.

The official visit of the parliamentary delegation headed by Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov to Turkey will last from 15 to 18 July. The delegation included deputies Almazbek Akmatov, Iskander Gaipkulov, Ziyadin Zhamaldinov, Torobai Zulpukarov, Kanatbek Isaev, Talant Mamytov.
