Kyrgyzstan wants to be among the top 70 most popular countries in world tourism. In this respect, Kyrgyzstan plans to become one of the top 70 countries in the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in the next 4 years.

According to the information provided by the Kyrgyzstan’s Tazabek news agency, it is reported that this tourism goal is included in the Kyrgyz Government’s 2019-2023 Tourism Sector Development Program. According to information from the Centralasia.news news site, the government program also planned to be among the top 100 most popular countries of world tourism by the end of 2019 and first 80 countries by the end of 2021.

According to the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan, 1.4 million tourists came to Kyrgyzstan in 2018 (according to the 2017 data, this rate did not change). The number of tourists is reported to be more than 900 thousand and the majority visited the Issyk Kul region.

According to the data of the State Customs Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the number of foreigners entering Kyrgyzstan in 2018 was more than 7 million (1.5 times the rate in 2017).

According to World Tourism Organization data, 1.4 billion people traveled in 2018 (this number increased by 5.6% compared to 2017). 20 countries consist of more than 60% of world tourism traffic.
