Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with Chairwoman of the Milli Majilis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan Sagiba Gafarova.

The meeting took place as part of the Kyrgyz foreign minister's official visit to Azerbaijan.

The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that Ruslan Kazakbaev expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit Azerbaijan and conveyed greetings from Talant Mamytov, the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The sides debated bilateral Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani relations in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres and noted the importance of further development and bringing them to a new quality level.

In this regard, Kazakbaev noted the important role of the Parliaments of the two countries and bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Chairwoman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sagiba Gafarova said the expansion of the legal-contractual framework for bilateral cooperation is on the agenda of the two countries, and the Milli Majilis is ready to carry out the relevant procedure of ratification of these agreements after their conclusion.

Touching upon the inter-parliamentary cooperation, Gafarova stressed the important role of the activity of the Friendship Groups in the Parliaments of both countries.

During the meeting, it was noted that the Group of Friendship with the Kyrgyz Republic in the Azerbaijani Parliament consists of 14 deputies and they are all ready for active cooperation with the Jogorku Kenesh.

At the end of the meeting, Ruslan Kazakbaev invited Sagiba Gafarova to visit Kyrgyzstan at any convenient time.
