During the meeting, chaired by Murat Bashtor, Director General for Transport Services Regulation of the Turkish delegation, and the Kyrgyz delegation led by Minister of Transport and Communications Shukhrat Aitiev, important steps were taken with regard to international road transport.

At the meeting, it was decided to liberalize bilateral and transit traffic by amending the 1992 Land Transport Agreement between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, a legal liberalization process was initiated and a protocol amending the agreement was initialed.

Bilateral and transit transportations are possible without restriction of the transit document.

Taking into account the problems with the transit document in the countries of Central Asia, it is important that for the first time with one country in this geography, the liberalization of transportation is carried out and this serves as an example for other countries.

Thanks to the step of liberalizing land transport, Turkish and Kyrgyz carriers will be able to carry out bilateral and transit traffic without restricting the transit document. In addition, this move will provide great convenience in trade between the two countries.

At the same time, during the meeting, representatives of the private sector and the association of carriers of the two countries also decided to develop cooperation.

Kyrgyzstan has important logistics potential due to its location on the border with China. In this context, Turkish and Kyrgyz carriers exchanged ideas on logistics centers and transportation of Chinese goods to Europe and went along the path of cooperation.
