With the support of international partners, 16 projects have been planned for the construction and modernization of thermal power plants, hydroelectric power stations and power grids in almost all regions worth almost $ 1.9 billion, CA-NEWS reports.
The first meeting of the Economic Council on ensuring the implementation of the Road Map of the main directions of structural reforms of Uzbekistan for 2019-2021 was held in Tashkent.
During the meeting, issues of improving the energy sector of the republic were discussed.
The project includes the introduction of the principles of competition, an integrated strategy for the development of the electricity and gas sectors, the financial rehabilitation of enterprises, the transition to the production of clean energy, improvement of the quality of services and potential for new market actors.
It is also planned to introduce an automated system for monitoring and metering the consumption of electrical energy in the Bukhara, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions for $ 150 million.
