On May 15, Tajik leader Emomali Rahmon announced a decision to send material assistance of almost about half a million dollars to the Gorno-Badakhshan region. The main focus will be on supporting COVID-19 patients and doctors. This was reported on the online radio "Voice of the CIS" in the press office of the Ministry of Health.

A total of 45 trucks will be shipped to the region. The vehicles will contain food, namely flour, rice, potatoes, sugar. In addition, missing medicines for the treatment of infectious diseases will be delivered to 8 cities and regions of Gorno-Badakhshan.
As part of socio-economic support, an ambulance will be brought to the central regional hospital as a gift from Rakhmon. Medical masks and gloves will be separately purchased for healthy workers, and the missing medical equipment will be purchased for hospitals. Earlier, on behalf of the president, 500 tons of coal were delivered to all social facilities in the country.
