In October of this year, the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Turkey on Economic Cooperation was held in Dushanbe. This information was taken from the official website trtavaz.com.tr.

During the meeting, the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank noted the desire of the presidents of the two countries to achieve a trade volume of $ 1 billion.

"The global epidemic has shown us that the path to the well-being of our peoples is not competition, but the establishment of mechanisms for mutual cooperation, a joint policy," said Mustafa Varank.

Varank said that despite the conditions of the epidemic, the volume of trade in 2020 increased by 17 percent year-on-year and reached $ 323 million, and this figure was achieved in 9 months of this year.

"We Decided To Start New Negotiations"

The Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank said that unlike in previous years, this year an action plan of 117 specific points was included in the protocol of the 11th Convocation of the Economic Commission, in connection with which he noted the importance of such actions as the creation of a joint working group to strengthen mutual trade, cooperation in the field of digital trade and international combined cargo transportation, increasing the frequency of flights between the two countries. The Minister announced the decision to start new negotiations between the two countries. Stressing that, in his opinion, the target trade volume of $ 1 billion will be reached as soon as possible thanks to these efforts, Varank noted that he will closely monitor the implementation of the action plan and the conclusion of future agreements.

The Minister stated that Turkey is determined to share with Tajikistan the knowledge gained over the past 19 years and wished that the 11th meeting of the commission and the signed agreements would benefit.

"We Want To Take Advantage Of Turkey's Experience"

Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan and Economic Commission Co-Chair  Sherali Kabir also noted the importance of developing trade and economic relations between the two countries for the region.

Stating that Turkey is an important partner in foreign trade, the Minister noted: "In the future, we want to develop our relations on a mutually beneficial basis." Stressing that Turkey has made significant progress in the field of industry and technology in recent years and has become a major exporter, Kabir expressed his desire to take advantage of Turkey's experience in these areas.

The Minister noted that the protocol of the 11th meeting of the commission will be useful for deepening relations with Turkey and expressed readiness for cooperation in this context.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Turkey to the Republic of Tajikistan Emre Zeki Karagol, KOSGEB (Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization of Turkey) President Hassan Basri Kurt, Chairman of Turkish Exporters Assembly Ismail Gülle, Chairman of the Anatolian Lions Bussinessmen Association (ASKON)  Orhan Aydin, Chairman  of Deik /Turkey-Tajikistan Business Council Cihangir Fikri Saatcioğlu, Director General of the Department of Industry and Technology of the European Union and Foreign Affairs Mustafa Erdogan.

Following the talks, the ministers of the two countries signed the protocol of the 11th meeting of the Commission of Tajikistan and Turkey on economic cooperation.
