Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEİK) will continue to work to strengthen and develop relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey, Chairman of DEİK’s Turkey-Turkmenistan Business Council Halil Avci said during the webinar titled “Turkmenistan's Market and Trade Opportunities”.

The online event was held on Monday under the coordination of the Global Fair Agency of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy in Ashgabat and the DEİK, Turkey’s Ihlas news agency reports.

During the event, Khalil Avci noted that Turkmenistan is a country of opportunities, adding that Turkmenistan has provided Turkish contractors with a sales market worth approximately $60 billion in the last 30-year period.

“Our Turkish businesses have the opportunity to do business with Turkmen small and medium-sized enterprises. This cooperation is especially promising in the field of agriculture and greenhouse farming. Turkmenistan is an active market. One of the biggest advantages is the absence of language barriers. As DEİK, we will continue to work to strengthen and develop relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey,” Avci said during the meeting.

The meeting participants noted that presently about 80 companies are engaged in export from Bursa to Turkmenistan, and 7 companies with Turkmen capital operate in Bursa.

Established in 1986, DEİK carries out foreign economic relations of the Turkish private sector, in particular with respect to foreign trade, international investments, services, contracting and logistics.
