The Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States held its 83rd meeting in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the senior executive committees of the CIS, participated in the CIS Economic Council meeting, chaired by Turkmenistan this year.

The meeting, chaired by Sergey Lebedev, Chairman and Secretary General of the CIS, reviewed the results of joint activities aimed at achieving higher levels of economic co-operation and the implementation of previously reached agreements, including the implementation of the combined budget of CIS organs.

Then, proposed by the President of Turkmenistan; the draft declaration of the Strategic Economic Cooperation of the member states of the community was discussed. It was emphasized that the adoption of such a document will help strengthen the community and develop effective dialogue in the CIS format.

At the meeting, it was decided to strengthen the coordination of the activities of CIS governments in the field of Socio-Economic Cooperation and the results of the activities of the Economic Affairs Commission were also evaluated.

At the end of the negotiations, 24 documents were signed on various issues.
