As of February 2020, Turkmenistan Airlines will start regular flights between the cities of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

According to information from the Centralasia.news news site, Boeing 777-200LR model aircraft between the two cities will perform these flights.

It is stated that the development of air transport in Turkmenistan has gained a strong momentum recently. For this, in Turkmenistan, modern airports built in accordance with international standards. The aircraft fleet of Turkmenistan Airlines has been renewed with aircraft purchased from the world’s most advanced aircraft manufacturers, and the aircrafts are being modernized with new technologies.

Today, Turkmenistan Airlines carries approximately 2 million passengers annually. With the expansion of the company’s fleet and route network, the number of passengers increased by 15-20% annually. The company has a fleet of 20 Boeing aircraft. Three Boeing 737-800s were purchased in 2013, two Boeing 777-200LRs in 2014 and three Boeing 737-800s in 2015. Between 2016 and 2018, several Boeing aircraft were added to the fleet.

According to Turkmenistan State Statistics Committee, Turkmenistan Airlines increased its cargo transportation rate by 34.6% and passenger transportation by 2.3% in the January-August period of 2019 compared to the same period of 2018.
