At the invitation of Uzbekistan President Shevket Mirziyoyev, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife paid an official visit to Tashkent on 29 March.According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the President of Uzbekistan and his wife welcomed them at Tashkent International Airport.

President Şevket Mirziyoyev and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met at the Kuksaroy residence.The Leaders exchanged views on the further development of multiface Uzbekistan-Türkiye cooperation based on mutual respect, friendship and trust.

The meeting focused on enhancing strategic partnership relations, deepening political, inter-parliamentary, commercial, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.

The second meeting of the Uzbekistan-Türkiye High Level Strategic Cooperation Council was then held.The Presidents discussed in detail promising areas for a further expansion of cooperation.Given the scale of cooperation achieved, the parties decided to raise bilateral ties to a new level of comprehensive strategic partnership.

The signing and exchange of documents were held at the end of the meeting at the highest level. Uzbekistan President Şevket Mirziyoyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a joint statement after the second meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council.

In addition, 9 documents have been signed at the level of governments, ministries and departments of the two countries, enabling further expansion of multifaceted co-operation between the two countries.

Within the framework of President Erdoğan 's visit, a ceremony was held to commission a modern thermal power plant (TPP) in Tashkent region and start construction of a similar thermal plant in Sirdarya region.
