Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States (CCTS, Turkic Council) changed its name to the Organization of Turkic States. This was announced on Friday by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan following the results of the VIII summit in Istanbul of the CCTS member countries.

"We have decided to rename our council. From now on, it is called the Organization of Turkic States. Today we held our summit on the Island of Democracy and Freedom, which occupies an important place in the history of our country. I hope that from now on our island will be the center of international meetings," Erdogan said.

"The whole Turkic world is proud of Azerbaijan's victory"

"At the beginning of the week, we celebrated the first anniversary of the liberation of the Karabakh lands. On behalf of myself and my people, I congratulate all my brothers in Azerbaijan, first of all President Aliyev. The whole Turkic world is proud of Azerbaijan's victory. During the epidemic, we shared our capabilities and once again showed that we are united as a Turkic world. Our fight against the coronavirus epidemic together with Hungary, our supervisory member of the Organization of Turkic States, is another success story," Erdogan said.

President Erdogan noted that in the Istanbul Declaration adopted at the end of the summit, the Turkic states reaffirmed their determination to further develop political solidarity and economic cooperation.

"I hope the times are near when the sun will start ‘rising’ from the east again."

"Thanks to the new name and structure, the Organization of Turkic States will grow, develop, strengthen and prosper more actively. I hope the times are near when the sun will begin to "rise" from the east again... We strive for a Turkic world that promotes peace and stability and plays a leading role in solving global problems," the Turkish President said.

"We have also adopted the Document "Turkic World Vision — 2040"

During the summit, a Document on the Vision of the Turkic world in 2040 was adopted, which outlines the prospects for the future of the organization. The Head of State noted that by approving the Concept of the Turkic World for the period up to 2040, the summit participants determined the prospects for the development of the Organization of Turkic States. The Turkish leader also said that following the results of the current summit in Istanbul, it was decided to allocate 2.5 million doses of vaccine to African countries, 2 million of which will be provided by Turkey.
