The launch of two cooperative Uzbek-Kazakh enterprises is being prepared in Shymkent, local media reported with reference to the akimat of the city.

New production facilities will start operating in the special economic zone "Ontustik". They are included in the list of 282 projects scheduled for execution in 2021-2025.

According to local authorities, the issue of construction of a metal processing factory, in which an investor from Uzbekistan participates, is being worked out. The metallurgical project was estimated at 6.3 billion tenge ($14.5 million).

The launch of the second enterprise is scheduled before the end of the year. The parties plan to organize the production of hygienic paper products worth 375 million tenge.($862.9 thousand). It is planned to produce 1.8 thousand tons of paper per year.

In early December, representatives of the two countries held a joint business forum. During it, bilateral agreements worth $6 billion were concluded, including investment agreements worth $2 billion.
