The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov met with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and held talks with the Prime Minister of this country Abdulla Aripov. The press service of the head of the Kazakh government reports that during the meeting with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Alikhan Smailov stressed that the interaction of Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan is a vivid example of strategic partnership and alliance based on trust and mutual understanding.

"Your state visit to Kazakhstan in December last year gave a great impetus to the development of large-format cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The governments of the two countries are working closely on the practical implementation of the agreements reached between you and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Special attention is paid to the creation of a strong and sustainable economic platform for our allied relations," Alikhan Smailov said.

He noted the high dynamics of development of bilateral cooperation. Uzbekistan is the main trading partner of Kazakhstan in Central Asia. At the end of 2021, the volume of bilateral trade grew by 33% and amounted to $4.3 billion. In the coming years, it is planned to increase it to 5 billion and reach 10 billion dollars in the medium term. There are about 3 thousand joint ventures in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan noted the high dynamics of Kazakh-Uzbek cooperation in the field of engineering, light industry and other sectors of the processing sector. 5 joint projects are being implemented in the automotive industry, the production of agricultural machinery and the textile industry. 7 projects are being worked out in the construction industry and mechanical engineering in the amount of about $ 365 million.

The mechanism of Special Representatives of the Presidents for trade and economic cooperation has been introduced between the countries. Work is underway to implement the project of creating an International Center for Industrial Cooperation "Central Asia" on the border of the two countries.

As a result of the visit, a Roadmap was signed to intensify bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture in the medium term.

Representatives of the business circles of the two countries signed a number of commercial documents in the fields of engineering, agro-industrial complex and logistics for a total of $661 million.

In Tashkent, Alikhan Smailov got acquainted with the work of the Technopark zone for the production of industrial, technical, electronic, construction and household products.
