The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan reported on plans to establish production of modern solar panels, reports Kazinform.

Kazakhstan is building a plant to produce solar panels with the use of HIT (heterojunction with intrinsic thin layer) and PERC (passivated emitter rear cells) technologies, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

According to the project, 300 solar panels are to be manufactured this year. The figure is to be increased to 6,000 in 2025. Each such panel is to cost 100,000 tenge.

Once built, the plant is set to take its capacity to 50 MW. It is expected to bring the number of solar panels made to up to 30,000 a year. The country will be the fourth country producing such solar panels after Germany, Japan and China, it was noted.
