A session was held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on June 13-14 with the participation of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The session was held in two parts. The first part of the session, which was held in a narrow framework, was attended by the heads of state of SCO member countries. Presidents of the countries participating in the summit as observers and representatives of international unions participated in the session held in a broad framework. The second part of the session was organized by the journalists and made statements.

Activities on the initiative of Kyrgyzstan

At the opening of the expanded session, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov gave information about the activities carried out so far and touched on the activities of the Kyrgyz Republic:

  • Establishing a unit in the context of SCO against economic crimes,
  • Struggle with people and institutions that spread false news,
  • To regulate the relations between Eurasian Economic Union (EEA) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization,
  • Establishment of cultural integration center among Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries,
  • Realization of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project,
  • To continue consultations on the bank to be established in the context of SCO.

The initiatives identified above have been highlighted in the past; but it was understood that these initiatives were not outdated. The presidents of all countries supported the activities highlighted by the initiative of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

President of the Republic of Tajikistan

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan declared that the money obtained from the sale of drugs was used by terrorist organizations. He also said that unemployment and poverty have influenced young people to join terrorist and radical groups. For this reason, it is necessary to pay attention to the countries that are not very rich, and the establishment of the SCO bank and SCO development fund should be accelerated. It was said that conducting these activities will have a positive effect on the economic development of the SCO member countries.

Let's not forget Central Asia

Uzbekistan President Shevket Mirzoyev said that Central Asia should be the main priority issue of the SCO. In his speech, Mirzoyev said, “The region is becoming more stable and developing economically. This makes it easier to carry out projects aimed at improving the region. Within this, the China-Kyrgyz-Uzbekistan railway project has a major impact on the development of the region and the increase of investments. ”

At the end of the SCO session, more than twenty important documents were signed. Moreover, the presidency of the SCO passed from the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to the Russian Federation.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an international association. The Union was founded in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Today, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, as well as India and Pakistan are members of the Union.

The observer countries of the Union are Afghanistan, Belarus (Belarus), Iran and Mongolia.
