Within the framework of the first economic forum "European Union – Central Asia", Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Chary Gylydzhov, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
It is noted that Akylbek Zhaparov expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for participating in the work of the economic forum and stressed that Turkmenistan is considered as an important economic partner of the republic in Central Asia.
"I would like to note with satisfaction the wide potential of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas, including in the field of energy and transport. The Kyrgyz Republic is always open for cooperation with investors from Turkmenistan and joint efforts to increase mutual trade turnover," Akylbek Zhaparov said.
The Turkmen side noted the significant role of the visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to Turkmenistan this year in giving a new and qualitative impetus to Kyrgyz-Turkmen cooperation and strengthening fraternal ties of friendship between the two peoples.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the observed growth of trade indicators between the countries, which indicates the existing potential for increasing mutual trade.
In the context of energy cooperation, Akylbek Zhaparov noted the importance of the ongoing supplies of Turkmen electricity to the Kyrgyz Republic along with the prospects for the supply of Turkmen natural gas.
In addition, the issues of creating a joint Kyrgyz-Turkmen Fund, as well as cooperation in transport, logistics, cultural and humanitarian fields were discussed within the framework of the agenda of the talks.
