President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met in Istanbul, Turkey with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the Summit of Heads of Countries Participating in the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS).

The heads of state discussed topical issues of strengthening cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan warmly greeted Sadyr Zhaparov and noted that the meeting of the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, held in June this year, gave an additional impetus to strengthening bilateral relations.

He emphasized that for 8 months of this year, the trade turnover between the two countries is approaching the indicators of 2020. Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope to increase the level of mutual trade to USD 1 billion.

President Sadyr Zhaparov, in turn, expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for the hospitality and organization of the Summit at a high level.

He recalled that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states and expressed confidence in building up bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.

Sadyr Zhaparov paid special attention to the implementation of the previously reached agreements, including the creation of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Investment Fund. In his opinion, such a fund is based on mutual interest in expanding investment and financial relations between the two countries and contributes to the implementation of public and private self-financed projects of Kyrgyz and Turkish entrepreneurs.

The leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey expressed mutual readiness to build up joint cooperation in all relevant areas.
