The delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh headed by the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs Chingiz Aidarbekov held talks with the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Shentop.
According to the press service of the LCD, during the meeting the parties discussed the current state and development of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries, stressed the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation and the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as expanding cooperation within parliamentary organizations.
The sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues on the agenda of Kyrgyz-Turkish cooperation, including mutual interest in continuing joint projects in trade, economic and investment spheres, in particular in the fields of energy, mining and processing industry, agriculture, transport, as well as in the field of healthcare, education, tourism, etc. The parties expressed interest in increasing the volume of mutual trade turnover and bringing its level to 1 billion US dollars.
In addition, the issue of creating additional financial institutions was discussed.
The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of the XI plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking States (TURKPA), which will be held in Kyrgyzstan.
Chingiz Aidarbekov noted that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches priority to maintaining and deepening strategic and fraternal relations with Turkey and noted with satisfaction the high level of Kyrgyz-Turkish political dialogue at all levels. Gratitude was expressed to the Turkish side for providing assistance during the joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
