Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan have reached the level of strategic partnership. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan and Georgia Kairat Osmonaliev told about it on April 11 on air of "Birinchi Radio". He emphasized the importance of establishing transport communication between Asia and Europe within the framework of trade routes that pass through the territory of both Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
"Considering the fact that we are not border countries, to get to Azerbaijan on the land border it is necessary to go through Kazakhstan, Russia, if south - Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran. If the shorter way - by ferry across the Caspian Sea. This is through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan," Osmonaliyev said. The ambassador noted that the existing logistics do not meet the current needs of trade and economic processes in the region.
"The issue of development of the Middle Corridor is being actively discussed. In other words, it is a revival of the old silk road that went through the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus," he said. As K.Osmonaliev explained, Kyrgyzstan needs to develop a transportation corridor, which includes the route China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Europe. "Baku has a railroad connection to Georgia. From Georgia you can go to Europe and Turkey," he added.
