Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are going to enter into an agreement on the construction of the Kambarata hydroelectric power station (HPP-1) on the Naryn River in Kyrgyzstan.

The draft agreement was published on the website Open Legal Regulations of the Government of Kazakhstan. This document defines the terms of cooperation and further operation of the facility.

According to the document, cooperation between the countries will be based on guaranteeing the purchase of the entire volume of electricity produced at Kambarata HPP-1 by organizations identified by the parties, as well as on making decisions based on consensus and managing the operating mode of the power plant, taking into account the provision of agreed volumes of water output.

The energy ministries of the three republics will undertake the coordination and implementation of the agreement. To implement the project in Kyrgyzstan, a separate joint-stock company will be created in accordance with the legislation of this republic. The share of Kyrgyzstan in the authorized capital of the joint-stock company will be 34%, Kazakhstan – 33% and Uzbekistan – 33%. In this case, the shares of the parties will remain unchanged, without the possibility of their merger, transfer or sale.

Upon completion of the project, the shares and assets of Kambarata HPP-1 will completely become the property of Kyrgyzstan.
