On 24 September 2018, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Nurdinjon Ismoilov met with the parliamentary delegation of the Turkish Republic headed by the Chairman of the Great National Assembly of Turkey Binali Yildirim.
Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nurdinjon Ismoilov, welcoming the high guest to visit our country, stressed that similar meetings are very significant at the new stage of the Uzbek-Turkish relations, especially, they serve the active development of inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries.
At the same time, the high guest is provided with detailed information on the legislative activities of the lower house of parliament, the methods of work of factions and committees, rulemaking, and innovations in the field of parliamentarism.
During the state visit to the Republic of Turkey on 25-26 October at the highest level of negotiations, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey.
The document strengthened the legal framework and opened the way to support of relations through the exchange of visits and joint events within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
According to the parties, cooperation in the sphere of parliamentarism between the countries is particularly active and effective. During the short period of time, the parliamentary delegation of each side held several meetings. The friendship group "Turkey-Uzbekistan" of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the inter-parliamentary group of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for cooperation with the Grand National Assembly of Turkey operates in close cooperation.
The active growth of the strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties, in turn, serves to further expand the scope of cooperation. The meeting in the Senate and Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis with the delegation of the Turkish Grand National Assembly headed by the chairman of the inter-parliamentary friendship group "Turkey-Uzbekistan" of the Great National Assembly of Turkey, Haydar Ali Yildiz, confirms this idea.
Within the framework of this visit of the Turkish parliamentary delegation, the first joint meeting of the "Turkey-Uzbekistan" interparliamentary friendship group was held with the inter-parliamentary group of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for cooperation with the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
After the talks, the Action Plan was signed for further development of bilateral cooperation for 2018. The current visit of the parliamentary delegation of Turkey is also one of the important events in the "road map".
The meeting touched upon the expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey in trade and economic, scientific and technical, investment and technological, cultural and humanitarian, transport and communication and other spheres.
An exchange of views took place on the intensification of the dialogue between the highest representative bodies of the two countries, the exchange of experience in the legislative sphere, and the promotion of parliamentary cooperation.
The meeting also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
