Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover with Turkmenistan in January-August 2021 reached $ 418.1 million, an increase of more than 23.6% on an annualized basis. This is stated in the report of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, published on Monday.

According to the report, for the same period last year, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to more than $ 338.4 million.

Turkmenistan is one of the ten largest trade partners of Uzbekistan.

Thus, for eight months of this year, Uzbekistan imported Turkmen products worth $ 297.6 million. At the same time, the country's exports to Turkmenistan amounted to USD 120.5 million.

Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover over this period approached US $ 25 billion, an increase of US $ 383.1 million or 1.6% compared to the same period in 2020.

The largest foreign trade partner of Uzbekistan during this period was China - almost 4.8 billion US dollars, while exports exceeded 1.57 billion US dollars, and imports exceeded 3.2 billion US dollars.

Other main partners of Uzbekistan in terms of trade during this period were Russia (about US $ 4.5 billion), Kazakhstan (about US $ 2.5 billion), Turkey (over US $ 2.1 billion), Korea (about US $ 1.2 billion). USD), Kyrgyzstan (about USD 599 million), Germany (about USD 472 million), Afghanistan (about USD 444 million), and Ukraine (about USD 388 million).

The Uzbek-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural-Humanitarian Cooperation, during its 16th meeting in Tashkent last week, expressed its readiness to bring the volume of Uzbek-Turkmen trade to $ 1 billion in the near future.

In 2020, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan amounted to USD 527 million.
