IT is planned to implement a project to produce electric cars on the basis of Central Asia Motors CO, located in Fergana region of Uzbekistan. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
Production of electric cars will begin in 2021-2022 in cooperation with the Chinese company Hong Kong ZRSC Technology. The cost of the project is $ 55 million, of which $ 43 million is foreign investment. The capacity of the plant will be 10,000 electric cars a year.
In addition, in August 2020, Uzbekistan began construction of a plant for the assembly of electric vehicles in the free economic zone Kokon. It should be noted that Transparent Omad Industry and Silk Road implement the project. A total of $ 30 million was invested in the construction of the plant. Of this, $ 24 million is foreign investment. Preliminary estimates put the cost of Uzbek-made electric cars at $ 3,000. The company will start producing electric cars in late 2021.
In mid-June of this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his visit to the Andijan region, announced that an electric vehicle assembly plant would be built in the region. “We will study the Chinese experience and build an electric vehicle assembly plant. Time is changing very quickly, industry should be based on knowledge, ”the head of state said at the time.
