The President of Uzbekistan visited the city of Almalyk and got acquainted with the work carried out at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine on the investment project "Development of the Yeshlik-1 deposit". This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Innovative Development.

The project cost is more than $5 billion. The plant occupies 11 thousand hectares, contains such valuable and rare metals as gold, copper, silver, molybdenum and selenium. A third copper processing plant is being built at the combine for their processing. The initiative will be implemented in two stages. As part of the first stage, in 2021-2025, it is expected to produce 290 thousand tons of cathode copper, 38 tons of gold and 203 tons of silver. As part of the second stage, 400 thousand tons of cathode copper, 50 tons of gold and 270 tons of metallic silver will be produced in 2024-2028.

In July of this year, Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in laying the foundation of the third copper processing plant at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine. The project is financed by Gazprombank with the support of VEB of the Russian Federation, which will allocate $ 7 billion for the development of AMMC.

A significant part of the equipment and components will be supplied by enterprises of the Russian Federation, which are industry leaders. It is expected that Russian machines and aggregates worth $ 1 billion will be purchased for the new plant.

Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. AMMC accounts for about 90% of silver and 20% of gold production in the republic.
