Turkish company Aksa Energy is implementing the project to build a combined power plant with a capacity of 240 megavolts (MW) and a piston gas power plant with a capacity of 230 megavolts (MW) in the Tashkent region.

According to the news of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the construction, assembly and commissioning works at the facility continue. On 22 December, the first voltage was applied to the open switchgear of the power plant. The auxiliary equipment of the facility is currently being commissioned. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan said that in the next 7-8 days, the power plant will be connected to the only electricity grid of Uzbekistan and will begin to provide electricity. With the commissioning of the power plant, 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity will be produced annually. It is also among the information that the project itself will save 550 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.
