Tatarstan is counting on cooperation with Uzbekistan in the production of components for the resumption of production of the medium-haul Tu-214 aircraft. This was stated by Ravil Zaripov, assistant to the President of Tatarstan for Aviation and Mechanical Engineering, local media reports.

On Tuesday, March 22, a round table on investment and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tatarstan was held in Tashkent as part of the upcoming visit to Tashkent of the head of the Russian region Rustam Minnikhanov.

He clarified that it could be a joint production of a number of aircraft components in Uzbekistan. In turn, the Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Khurram Teshabayev announced agreements with the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) to expand the list of component base production of the Tashkent Mechanical Plant. First of all, it will affect the production of components for IL-76 and IL-114 aircraft. Teshabayev added that an agreement was also reached with the UAC on the creation of a consortium of machine-building enterprises of Uzbekistan that will meet the needs of the Russian aviation industry.

The company was established on the basis of an aircraft factory evacuated to the republic in 1941 from the Moscow region. The plant produced IL-76 transport aircraft and IL-114 passenger aircraft, as well as wings for AN-70 aircraft. In January 2014, the plant was renamed Tashkent Mechanical Plant JSC, which was supposed to maintain the production of spare parts for IL-114 and IL-76 aircraft. Currently, the main products of the plant, which is part of the structure of Uzbek Railways JSC, are building structures, household products, automotive components, spare parts for agricultural machinery and railway transport.
