President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan participated in the launch ceremony of two major energy projects on November 27. The first project involves the construction of a 1,500 MW combined cycle power plant in the Syrdarya region, while the second project is the establishment of a "green hydrogen" production facility in the Tashkent region, in collaboration with Saudi company ACWA Power. This was reported to CentralAsia.News by the President's Press Service.

The total cost of the thermal power plant project in Syrdarya is $1.1bn and is expected to meet the electricity needs of over 3 mn households and numerous industrial enterprises. Additionally, the "green hydrogen" production facility will be the first of its kind in the region and will initially produce 3,000 tons of hydrogen, which will be processed into mineral fertilizers. A 52 MW wind station will also be created as part of this pilot project.

Uzbekistan is successfully implementing large energy projects worth $7.5bn with ACWA Power. These projects are expected to contribute to the creation of 25 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, leading to a saving of $4.5bn cubic meters of gas and a reduction of harmful emissions by up to 3 mn tons.
