President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe to hold talks on strengthening cooperation, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

The leaders of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan discussed key aspects of partnerships in the international arena and on a regional scale. Speaking at a press conference, Rahmon emphasised that he and Mirziyoyev signed several documents aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries. He highlighted the Treaty of Alliance — the document that brings bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to a new level, contributing to strengthening peace and stability in the Central Asian region.

They discussed promoting bilateral trade and economic relations. Rahmon noted an almost 40-fold increase in bilateral trade over the past 7 years, as well as an increase in the number of joint ventures to 400. He dwelt on a rise in mutual investment.
