On September 25, at a meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council),Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov spoke of the transformation of Central Asia into one of the world's energy centers.

He said that large-scale investment projects implemented in recent years, in particular, the construction of new gas pipelines to China and Iran, as well as the ongoing construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline. In addition, these projects can be regarded as the contribution of Turkmenistan to the development of international energy cooperation,he said.

"This has a positive impact on the overall situation and development in the Central Asian region, turning it into one of the world's energy centers," the Turkmen leader noted.

Berdimuhamedov also noted that about $ 8 billion was invested in the development of one of the world's largest gas fields "Galkynysh", now the country is completing the construction of a gas chemical complex producing 386,000 tons of polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene per year, and a plant for production of natural gas from gasoline A-92, corresponding to the ecological standards of Euro-5.
