Turkmenistan is preparing to open a trade center in the capital of Azerbaijan Baku.

On 3 December, the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Baku Batyr Redzhepov and the Secretary General of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan (NCOPA) Fuad Gumbatov held a meeting on the opening preparations. At the end of the meeting, Fuad Gumbatov announced that they will provide active assistance to the opening of the Turkmenistan Trade Center in Baku.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to establish Turkmenistan Trade Center in Baku during his visit to Azerbaijan in August last year, in return, he suggested Azerbaijan open a trade center in Ashgabat.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also stressed the strengthening of bilateral trade and economic relations during his recent visit to Turkmenistan. After the talks, more than twenty agreements and memorandums were signed. The bilateral agreement package also included a memorandum between the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and the National Confederation of the Organization of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan.

The Turkmenistan Trade Center, which will be opened in Baku, is expected to increase bilateral trade. The trade center will focus primarily on the sale of various textiles and handmade carpets produced in Turkmenistan.
