Turkmenista’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov said that at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan on 01.11.19, Turkmenistan is ready for multilateral cooperation in sustainable energy with SCO member states.

According to information from the Gundogar.org website, Foreign Minister Meredov said in his speech, “Today, we have the task of ensuring the sustainability, diversification, safety and reliability of the energy supply system. Turkmenistan is ready for strategic, systematic and multilateral cooperation with SCO member countries in the field of energy.”

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was founded in 2001 by leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. In 2017, India and Pakistan were accepted to SCO. Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia have observer status in SCO and countries in cooperation with the organization are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Turkey. Turkmenistan does not yet have an official status in SCO.
