The new Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway will open great opportunities in the development of transport communication with Uzbekistan. This is reported in Mammetkhan Chakyev’s article, General Director of the Agency of Transport and Communication under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, published in the ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’ newspaper on Monday.

According to the report, the construction of the 600-kilometer highway represents a significant opportunity to improve the capacity of the country's road infrastructure. This will lead to an increase in the quality and speed of logistics services, as well as create suitable conditions for a significant increase in the volume of transported goods through the territory of Turkmenistan and accelerate freight traffic.

The connection of the highway connecting the eastern region of the country with its center and the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi highway will give an opportunity to trucks to reach the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi and hence reach the Caucasus, Europe, the southern region of Russia, northern Iran, the Persian Gulf and Oman by sea.

In addition, the General Director of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan noted in his article that Turkmenistan plans to build two new fiber-optic data transmission lines to Iran and Kazakhstan.
