"Although most of our cooperation is devoted to energy issues, it is not limited only to these issues. We are also implementing our very big plans in the field of transport", said the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

According to Azertac News Agency it was stated by Ilham Aliyev in a press statement on January 30 after meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and signing bilateral documents.

Having informed that the transportation of goods by rail from Hungary to Azerbaijan and from Azerbaijan to Hungary has already begun, the head of state noted that this project also has great potential, since after the Russian-Ukrainian war, the volume of goods passing through the territory of Azerbaijan has increased dramatically.

"Last year alone, the volume of transit cargo increased by 75 percent. The modern transport infrastructure available in Azerbaijan – be it tankers, ships, a large commercial sea port, railways – they are all modern and meet all the necessary requirements. Therefore, although Azerbaijan has no access to the sea, I think it can become one of the important transport and logistics centers of Eurasia. There are very good opportunities here for cooperation with European countries and especially with Hungary, which is one of our closest partners in the European Union," President Ilham Aliyev stressed.
