Hungary plans to sign an agreement with Bulgaria and Romania at the end of April on the development of a pipeline system in Southeastern Europe for the supply of natural gas from Azerbaijan.

As transmits Vesti.az With reference to TASS, this was announced on Thursday by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto, speaking at a press conference after a meeting with the energy ministers of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest.

Speaking about the diversification of gas sources and routes to Europe, he noted that Hungary expects to start importing Azerbaijani gas by the end of this year and receive in the future 1-2 billion cubic meters per year. Part of this gas can come through Turkey, and with Turkish partners, according to Szijjarto, negotiations are already underway "on specific details." For these purposes, we will sign an agreement in Sofia at the end of next month," the Foreign Minister said.
