President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is on an official visit to the country, attended the ceremony.
A Memorandum of Understanding on the construction of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline was signed between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in Ankara on December 15, 2020. According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated February 10, 2022, appropriate funds have been allocated from the state budget for the construction of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline.
The construction of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline will be completed by the end of 2024. The project will be realized through a partnership between Turkey’s crude oil and natural gas pipeline trading company BOTAŞ and Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR.
The construction of the Azerbaijani section of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline is scheduled to be completed in May 2024, and the Turkish section- in December 2024.
