Azerbaijan discussed with Turkey the expansion of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), the current state and long-term prospects of natural gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Turkey and Europe, as well as issues related to the construction and commissioning of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline this year.

The Energy Ministry informed Report that the discussions were held within the meeting of Energy Minister Perviz Shahbazov with Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

The sides stressed the importance of cooperation with Turkey in the development of Nakhchivan as a "green energy zone". In particular, they discussed the activities within the working group established with the participation of both sides to address such issues as export of electricity to Turkey, study the possibilities of its transportation to Europe, and creation of appropriate infrastructure for this purpose. At the meeting, it was also mentioned that the 4th Azerbaijani-Turkish Energy Forum will be held in Turkey this year.
