Azerbaijan plans to commission 7 GW of renewable energy production capacity by 2030, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Orkhan Zeynalov said at the Caspian Energy Forum, which is taking place on September 18 in Baku, Report informs.

"Of these, 2 GW of capacity will be designed to supply the domestic market, 4 GW for export along the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Europe green energy corridor through the Black Sea, and we plan to export 1 GW along the corridor through the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to Türkiye and Europe," he noted.

Zeynalov, referring to the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Europe Black Sea Green Energy Cable project, noted that two weeks ago the project participants agreed to establish a joint venture in Bucharest. Now the development of a feasibility study is in progress, the main results of which will be announced at COP29 in November in Baku.

“Within the framework of the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor Project, an agreement has been reached with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to establish a joint venture in Baku. The text of the intergovernmental Agreement on Strategic Partnership for the realization of this project has been agreed and will be signed soon. In the future there is a potential to connect this corridor with the Black Sea Green Energy Cable,” he added.
