Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Shentop expressed support for the construction of the China—Kyrgyzstan—Uzbekistan railway, noting that the implementation of the project will contribute to the revival of the ancient Silk Road.
The speaker of the Turkish parliament declared his support for the construction of the railway at a meeting with Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev during the official visit of the Kyrgyz delegation.
During the talks, the sides discussed issues of increasing political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries, as well as aspects of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.
"Turkey is one of the largest trade and economic partners of Kyrgyzstan and occupies a special place in the structure of foreign trade of the Kyrgyz Republic. The bilateral trade turnover is growing every year. We need to increase this pace and bring the volume of trade to $1 billion," Shakiev said. He also pointed out the need to accelerate the creation of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Development Fund.
In turn, Shentop noted the strengthening of bilateral relations between the countries and support at the international level. At the same time, he outlined the issues of expanding ties within the framework of TURKPA and intensifying bilateral working visits
