An oil field estimated to have a daily productivity of 100,000 barrels has been found in the mountains of Turkey, according to a statement by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to a statement made by TRT Haber, the oil field is located near the city of Cizre in the southeast of the country.

"We have found an oil field with a production capacity of 100 thousand barrels per day in the Gabar mountains near the city of Cizre," Erdogan said at an election rally.

According to the Turkish President, the oil is located at a depth of 2.6 km and its reserves are estimated to be "tens of billions" of dollars. According to him, raw materials from the field have already started to be supplied to oil refineries.

In December 2022, the Turkish President reported that a large oil field containing 150 million barrels of oil worth $ 12 billion was located in the same region.

At the end of July, it announced the new Çukurova field in the south of the country, whose reserves reached $ 1 billion.

The Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources estimates the volume of oil found at 7.5-8.0 million barrels.
