Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are planning on launching a project to introduce a single Silk Visa in February next year, Acting First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development (SCTD) of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Kasimkhodjaev told journalists.

He said that the visa should be introduced in February 2019. In addition, the project will go beyond the limits of Central Asia.

“Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are very interested in this project, while Turkmenistan is considering this possibility. Kazakhstan also intends to include Turkey and Azerbaijan here,” he stressed.

According to experts, the introduction of a single visa will stimulate not only development of tourism in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, but also arrival of foreign tourists to the countries who want to see all the sights of Central Asia at once.

Uzbekistan is also planning on introducing a visa-free regime for another 22 states in the near future. Currently, visa-free is open to citizens of 18 states.
