In Urgench city, Khorezm region, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin held talks with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and participated in the second forum of interregional cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

  1. Mamin and A. Aripov took part in the final session of the second forum of interregional cooperation between two countries on the theme "Cooperation in the fields of regional business, agro-industrial cooperation, industry and tourism", which gathered more than 300 people - heads of state bodies, regions, as well as representatives of business circles of the two countries.

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan has put forward initiatives to create a Kazakh-Uzbek cluster of light industry on the basis of the SEZ "Ontustik" in Shymkent city, to open a joint tourist route through tourist sites in Turkestan, Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khorezm regions, and to jointly develop wholesale and distribution and agro-logistics centers. A. Mamin placed special emphasis on the potential of cooperation between the two countries in the transit-transport and logistics spheres. "For Kazakhstan, your country means access to South Asia, for Uzbekistan, our territory means access to the markets of the EEU and South-East Asia, the Caucasus and Europe," A. Mamin stressed the need to intensify joint efforts to form the infrastructure of the North — South corridor, as well as the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route.

At the end of the Forum, 52 documents on the development of economic cooperation were signed, including the Final Declaration of the Forum, as well as inter-agency, interregional and commercial agreements in mechanical engineering, agricultural, financial and banking, industrial, infrastructure, pharmaceutical and other areas totally about $ 500 million. The Forum allowed representatives of the business circles of the two countries to hold meetings in the B2B (business-to-business) format, as well as present their production and investment opportunities at a specially organized exhibition.
