"Kazakhstan provides all possible assistance to citizens of fraternal States. To ensure food security, we have sent assistance to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan (5 thousand tons of flour for each country)," President of Kazakhstan Kassym - Jomart Tokayev said on Friday, during the meeting of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States, held in the format of a videoconference and dedicated to the issue: "Consolidation and cooperation to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic".

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kyrgyz Republic, the agenda of the event included issues of ensuring trade and transit-transport links, cooperation in the field of healthcare, rendering necessary assistance to citizens of the member States of the Turkic Council. The participants exchanged information on measures taken at the national level to counteract coronavirus infection.
The Summit was attended by the leaders of the Turkic Council member States: the President of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Joomart Tokaev; the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev; the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sooronbai Zheienbekov; the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, and the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus.
According to the President of Kazakhstan, the Turkic Council has now become a full-fledged multilateral platform, that through joint efforts strengthens its international authority and influence. The head of Kazakhstan drew attention to the fact that the unusual summit of the Turkic Council is held in a very difficult period, when the entire world is threatened by the spread of coronavirus. In his opinion, in order to localize and overcome the pandemic, it is necessary to coordinate actions in terms of rapid exchange of information, conducting anti-epidemic measures, and creating innovative methods of diagnosis and treatment.
In addition, the President of Kazakhstan stressed that the coronavirus pandemic negatively affects trade and economic relations between the countries of the Turkic Council, and suggested developing a joint "Action Plan" to overcome its consequences. "This document should reflect measures to promote mutual trade and investment. In this regard, it will be beneficial for everyone, if we activate the work of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Turkic Investment Fund," Tokayev said.
