Accordıng to report of the press service of Akorda, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the Aktogay mining and processing complex of KAZ Minerals Aktogay LLP, where he took part in the commissioning ceremony of the second processing plant at the field. This allowed the mine to become one of the largest in the world in copper production. The related news was published on the official website kapital.kz on October 1.
The President got acquainted with the main performance indicators of KAZ Minerals Aktogay and inspected the ore mining process. Then the head of state gave an official start to production at the new sulfide factory and made a speech to the employees of the enterprise. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the strategic importance of the project, designed to give a new impetus to the development of the national industry.
"As I noted in the message, last year, for the first time in 10 years of industrialization, the contribution of the manufacturing industry to the development of the economy exceeded the share of the mining industry and amounted to 13%. According to the results of 8 months of this year, the growth rates of the manufacturing industry remain unchanged, reaching almost 6%. Within the framework of the Industrialization Map, more than 120 new industries were launched with the creation of 12 thousand jobs," he said.
The head of state also drew attention to the socio-economic benefits of launching the facility:
"Exports of processed products will increase. 700 new jobs will be created. The budget will receive an additional $80 million in tax deductions. The plant is actively involved in the construction of new social facilities, improving the equipment of educational and medical institutions in the East Kazakhstan region."
The President noted the uniqueness of the enterprise and highly appreciated the level of social responsibility of its management.
The project to expand the processing capacities of the Aktogay mining and processing complex was launched in 2017 as part of the implementation of the State Program of Industrial and Innovative Development by the KAZ Minerals Group of companies. The launch of the second stage of the plant will increase ore processing from 25 million to 50 million tons per year. In general, investments in the development of the field, including the Aktogay I and Aktogay II projects, reached $ 3.2 billion.
It is planned that from 2022 the complex will produce 190 thousand tons of copper, including 20 thousand tons of cathode copper. The total number of personnel of the entire complex is more than 3 thousand people. The enterprise actively uses advanced technologies, including programs based on artificial intelligence.
